Metro Network Expansion

Bengaluru’s metro network is set for significant growth in 2025 with the ambitious Phase 3 and 3A projects. The Phase 3A project, connecting Sarjapur to Hebbal, will span 36.59 kilometres at a cost of ₹28,405 crore, combining elevated and underground segments. Phase 3 includes two new corridors: JP Nagar to Kempapura (32.15 km) and Hosahalli to Kadabagere (12.5 km), adding 30 stations to the city’s metro system. These expansions aim to ease congestion and improve connectivity across key areas.

Advanced Rail Connectivity

After the success of the Kalaburagi-SMVT Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Vande Bharat Express in 2024, expectations are high for further rail connectivity enhancements. This ultra-fast train has already reduced travel time significantly and established a benchmark for rail services in the region.

Driverless Metro Trains

Bengaluru is also preparing to adopt driverless metro technology in 2025. BEML Ltd’s 5RS-DM project, valued at ₹3,177 crore, will introduce 53 state-of-the-art train sets for Phases 2, 2A, 2B, and the Airport Line. These trains promise increased efficiency and safety for the city’s metro network.

Ambitious Road Projects and Second Airport

The city plans to revolutionize road connectivity with tunnel road networks and further progress on the second airport. These projects will address traffic bottlenecks and provide modern transport solutions for Bengaluru’s growing population.

With these transformative initiatives, 2025 promises to be a landmark year for Bengaluru’s urban mobility and infrastructure development.
