  • IPL may provide solutions to the problem of plenty
  • You might see KL Rahul at No. 4: Aakash Chopra
  • KL Rahul traditionally played the role of an opener

With the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held later this year speculations regarding the squad have been making rounds. The primary focus of these speculations is with regard to whether or not ace batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will take part in the tournament given that they had limited exposure in this format for a while. However another prominent question is related to the Karnataka-based wicketkeeper KL Rahul’s presence. He traditionally played the role of an opener but India now have other options for that position such as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. Specialist wicketkeepers such Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are also in the fray.

The IPL may provide solutions to this problem of plenty. “You might see KL Rahul at No. 4. If he wants to play the World Cup, he probably needs to bat at No. 4 (for LSG in the IPL). You might see one among Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni and Prerak Mankad playing at No. 3. They have plenty of options available to get the work done. After No. 4, they (LSG) have Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis and Ayush Badoni along with Krunal Pandya down the order. Suddenly you see a lot of depth in the batting. So they have prepared a very good team,” former Indian batsman Akash Chopra said in his YouTube channel.
