Mumbai Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, who was shot dead outside his office on Saturday evening. Siddique, a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, was shot by three men who approached him under the cover of Dussehra firecrackers. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he was declared dead. The attackers were reportedly armed with pepper spray but chose to open fire immediately. While security personnel managed to capture Dharmaraj and Gurmail, Shiv Kumar fled the scene.

Gurmail, from Haryana, has a criminal past, including a murder case from 2019. His family claims to have disowned him over a decade ago. Dharmaraj and Shiv Kumar, both from Uttar Pradesh, had no prior criminal records, with family members expressing shock at their involvement.

Authorities are also searching for Mohammad Jasin Akhtar, a resident of Punjab, who allegedly received the contract for the murder from associates of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Though the gang has claimed responsibility, police are still investigating their involvement. Siddique was reportedly targeted for his connections with Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who has faced threats from the gang in the past.
