  • Shami's knee pain was indeed excruciating
  • He was advised to quit cricket!
  • This is Shami's story of grit and determination

Mohammad Shami is one of the most successful fast bowlers in Indian cricket. In the recently concluded World Cup, he emerged as the highest wicket taker.

Now, let’s travel back in time to the 2015 World Cup. Shami was diagnosed with a knee injury. Even as the pain became more and more excruciating, it was unbearable for him. However, the call of national duty was paramount to him.

When he consulted a doctor, he gave him two options. One, to undergo a surgery right away. Two, to undergo a surgery after the World Cup.

Shami chose the latter. After every match, even as his team members returned to their hotel rooms, Shami would visit a doctor, get an injection. Shami was full of forbearance as he kept getting treatment and gave his full to the team.

The star cricketer has also revealed that he was once advised by the doctor to quit cricket. But his tenacity of purpose made him choose a career.

Drawing inspiration from soldiers who guard our country, Shami soldiered on, thus giving his 100% to the country.

Shami has also faced a lot of problems in his life. But he has faced them all with sheer stoicism.
