A massive search operation is underway for Hyderabad-based doctor Ananya Rao, who went missing after jumping into the Tungabhadra River while filming a social media reel. Rescue teams have been stationed at the site since morning, battling strong water currents in an effort to locate her.

Ananya Rao, whose full name is Ananya Mohan Rao, hails from Tirumalagiri, Hyderabad. She was working at VKC Hospital in Hyderabad and belonged to a well-connected family. Her father, Manmohan, shares close ties with political figures, including former Mainampalli MLA Hanumantha Rao and Medak MLA Rohit. Upon learning of the incident, both leaders rushed to Koppal to monitor the search efforts.

The circumstances leading to Ananya’s disappearance remain under investigation. Authorities believe she was attempting to record a short video when the tragedy occurred. With increasing water flow in the river, rescue workers have faced challenges in their search efforts. Koppal in-charge Shivaraj Thangadgi has directed officials to reduce the water flow to aid operations.
