Who will be the next Chief Minister of Rajasthan?

  • BJP's leads would take it past majority mark
  • Rajyavardhan is trailing from his seat
  • Vasundhara Raje has a lead of 42,286 votes

The trends in elections in Rajasthan suggest a change in government once every 5 years. The early trends suggest that the same trend would continue with the BJP having leads which would take it well beyond the majority mark. The BJP had not projected anyone as the Chief Minister candidate. This was even viewed by some experts as a tactical mistake. But the question has become more prominent now with the results becoming more clear.

Three frontrunners for this position are former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Olympic Silver Medalist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Union Cabinet Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

Retired colonel Rajvardhan Singh Rathore has experience in working with the central ministry for a period of 2 years as a Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports. He is, however, trailing at the end of ten rounds although by a narrow margin of 940 votes from his constituency of Jhotwara to emerging youth leader of Congress, Abhishek Choudhary.

Vasudhara Raje’s chances were bright had the BJP’s seats been hovering close to the majority mark in which case they would need the support of independent candidates. She has a huge lead of 42,286 at the end of 15 rounds from her constituency of Jhalrapatan.
