  • JMP Jageesh’s house was searched

Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Hubli-Dharwad West and Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arvind Bellad’s statement added a new twist to the ongoing scandal pertaining to pendants using Tigers’ nails. Rajya Sabha MP Jageesh’s house was also searched after a video of him flaunting his pendant became viral on the internet. “Tiger nails are historically used for good vibrations. I would like to ask Siddaramaiah, if a complaint can be lodged against Rajya Sabha MP Jaggesh, why are you silent on Peacock feathers being used in Dargahs and Mosques? Siddaramaiah goes and takes blessings from those Peacock feathers. Can't he see? The peacock is our national bird. It's a crime and against the law,” Arvind Bellad asked in the state parliament.

MLA from Chittapur and Minister for IT/BT in the Government of Karnataka Priyank Kharge responded to this charge on his X account. “Peacock feathers are commonly used in India for various religious and traditional purposes and are traded freely. BJP needs to read the law properly instead of thriving in WhatsApp university. Provisions of Sec 43 of WLPA 1972, peacock feathers are exempted. But if BJP are really keen on raiding and arrests, let the law prevail equally for all,” he posted with a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi adorned by peacock feathers affixed to the post.
