Vivek Oberoi, actor and entrepreneur, recently opened up about his decision to avoid marriage after his break-up with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In an interview with Curly Tales, Vivek revealed that following the split, he was determined to stay away from serious relationships. “I didn’t want to get married, I was partying away. I was like, no serious relationships. It’s too much stress, too much complications,” he shared. He added that his paternal instincts were satisfied by spending time with his nieces and nephews, leading him to question the need for marriage.

However, Vivek’s perspective changed when his mother insisted he meet Priyanka Alva, who would later become his wife. “My mom said, ‘meet this one girl, and if you don’t like her, you say no, after that I will never tell you to meet anybody else but meet this one,'” Vivek recalled.

Vivek eventually agreed, and the meeting took place after his aunt had first met Priyanka, who was then studying for her MBA in New York. Vivek’s mother showed him Priyanka’s photo, and he was intrigued. “I come home and see the picture and say, ‘she is quite pretty.’ Next thing I know is that she is telling me, ‘you have to meet her.'”

Vivek and Priyanka married in 2010 and have two children, Vivaan Veer and Ameya Nirvana.
