Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian government has issued orders for nationwide mock drills to prepare for potential emergencies. These drills, simulating wartime scenarios, have already been conducted in border areas like Punjab and will now extend to all classified districts across the country, including rural regions. The main focus is on civil defense, with state governments being directed to ensure the proper functioning of air raid sirens and related emergency response systems.

The government has emphasized preparedness in states sharing borders with Pakistan, such as Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Haryana. However, the scope of these drills also includes major commercial hubs and strategic zones such as port cities and areas with vital infrastructure.
In Karnataka, two key regions have been identified for the execution of these mock drills namely, Raichur and Malleswaram in Bengaluru. Bengaluru, known as India’s Silicon Valley, is a hub for major economic and technological activities. Due to their strategic and commercial importance, both these locations are likely to witness mock drills as part of the nationwide initiative.
