In response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 innocent lives, India launched Operation Sindoor. Two women military officers, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sophia Qureshi, led a press briefing alongside Foreign Affairs Secretary Vikram Misri to provide details of the operation.

The Pahalgam attack was orchestrated by Pakistan-backed terrorists with the goal of triggering communal unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. The Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TRF), linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, was reportedly involved. Despite Pakistan's inaction towards the terrorists, India moved decisively to target their infrastructure.
Operation Sindhoor successfully destroyed nine terrorist hideouts, including those associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed group. The primary goal was to avenge the 26 innocent lives lost in the Pahalgam attack and to disrupt future terror activities. Careful precision ensured that no civilians or military targets were harmed during the operation. The main office of Jaish-e-Mohammed at Markaz Subhanalla, a terrorist training center, was among the key sites destroyed.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sophia Qureshi highlighted the efficiency and precision of the operation, assuring the public that no civilian infrastructure was harmed in the process.
