Kamath is also the youngest Indian member of The Giving Pledge, an initiative spearheaded by global billionaires Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. The pledge calls upon ultra-wealthy individuals to donate most or all of their wealth to charitable causes within their lifetime. Kamath's philanthropic reach extends to the Young Indian Philanthropic Pledge (YIPP), which encourages leaders within India’s startup ecosystem to pledge up to 25% of their net worth to charity.

In 2023, Kamath and his brother, Nithin Kamath, donated ₹110 crore, primarily aimed at combating climate change and fostering environmental sustainability.

Other notable names on the Hurun India list include Vivek Vakil of Asian Paints, recognized as the youngest donor for his contribution of ₹8 crore, and Adar Poonawalla, 43, who topped donations with ₹142 crore for the Villoo Poonawalla Charitable Foundation.

Interestingly, India’s richest business tycoons Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani did not claim the top spot in philanthropy, emphasizing a broader spread of significant charitable giving across the country.
