A disturbing incident of sexual assault was reported near KR Puram railway station in Bengaluru during early hours of April 3. The victim, a woman traveling from Kerala to her hometown in Bihar, had just arrived at the station with her brother when they were attacked.

As the siblings were heading toward Mahadevapura to find food, two men approached them. One suspect restrained the woman’s brother while the other dragged her to a secluded spot and assaulted her. Reports indicate that two auto-rickshaw drivers were involved in the crime. They not only assaulted the victim’s brother but also forcibly took the woman a short distance away before committing the crime.
Hearing the victim’s cries, local residents intervened and managed to catch one of the suspects, later handing him over to the police. Meanwhile, Mahadevapura police officers on night patrol arrested both accused on the spot.
The arrested men were identified as Asif and Syed Mushar, both from Mulabgailu in Karnataka’s Kolar district. According to the Whitefield Deputy Commissioner of Police, Asif was accused of sexually assaulting the woman, while Syed Mushar restrained her brother.
A case has been registered at Mahadevapura Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
