A 35-year-old woman lost her life on Monday morning after a compound wall collapsed due to heavy overnight rains in the city. The incident occurred in Channasandra, Mahadevapura, where the woman, Sasikala, had gone to work as a housekeeper at a private firm, IZ Company.
According to initial reports, the compound wall, weakened by continuous rainfall through the night, suddenly gave way and collapsed on Sasikala while she was at the worksite. She died on the spot.

Sasikala, a native of Shahapur, is survived by her husband, who works as a labourer, and two young children. The tragic accident has cast a shadow of grief over the family, which relied on daily-wage earnings for survival.
Heavy rains lashed several parts of Bengaluru late Sunday, leading to waterlogging, fallen trees, and infrastructure damage in low-lying areas. The incident has once again highlighted the vulnerability of poorly maintained structures during the monsoon season.
Mahadevapura police officials visited the site shortly after the collapse and have begun an investigation. Authorities are assessing whether negligence in building maintenance contributed to the incident.
The authorities are expected to conduct structural audits in the area following this fatality, as residents express growing concern over safety during the monsoon.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further action will follow based on the investigation findings.
