Woman sexually assaulted in broad daylight; friends retaliate against attackers in Anekal

In a shocking incident, a young woman was sexually assaulted in broad daylight by a group of five to six intoxicated men in Mailasandra, Anekal taluk on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

The assault occurred around 4 PM yesterday when the woman stepped out to buy groceries. Eyewitnesses reported that the group of youths, believed to be under the influence of marijuana, blocked her path, touched her inappropriately, and attempted to drag her. When she resisted, the assailants violently attacked her.

Local residents rushed to her aid and managed to intervene, but the situation escalated when the attackers turned on those who tried to help. The woman, deeply distressed, reportedly created a commotion after reaching home. The entire episode was captured on CCTV cameras installed nearby.

In an unexpected twist, friends of the young woman later confronted the accused and allegedly attacked them using helmets as weapons. This act of retaliation has drawn mixed reactions from the community.

A formal complaint has been lodged at the Bannerghatta police station. Locals are now questioning whether the lack of swift police action is emboldening such offenders. The incident has sparked outrage, with many calling for stricter enforcement and faster justice in cases involving violence against women.

Police have yet to confirm arrests as investigations are ongoing.
