Manjunath, who had travelled with his wife and family for what was meant to be a peaceful holiday, was fatally shot in the sudden attack. The status of other family members remains unclear as officials have yet to issue a full statement.

In a heart-wrenching statement, Manjunath’s wife, who survived the attack, said, “Three or four people suddenly came and attacked us. I begged them to kill me too. One of them said, ‘Go and tell Modi.’” The group had been part of a larger gathering of about 500 people in the area.

The broader attack has reportedly claimed 25 lives, with over 30 others seriously injured, sending shockwaves across the nation. Shivamogga is in deep mourning, as the news of Manjunath’s death spreads through the community.

Security forces have launched combing operations to track the attackers. The Union government is expected to respond shortly as outrage builds over the loss of innocent civilian lives in a conflict zone.
