Event aims to boost investment prospects in the agri-food sector
The second edition of the grand food event, ‘World Food India 2023,’ was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital today (November 3).
During the event, the Prime Minister kick-started the process of allocating seed capital assistance amounting to Rs 380 Crores to over 1 Lakh Self Help Group (SHG) Members.
In his address to the attendees, PM Modi emphasized the need to reduce post-harvest losses and minimize food wastage. He also highlighted India’s diverse food culture as an attractive prospect for global investors, underscoring the natural leadership abilities of Indian women in the food processing industry.
According to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, this support will enable SHGs to secure better prices in the market through enhanced packaging and improved manufacturing standards.
The primary focus of the event was to exhibit India as the ‘food basket of the world’ and celebrate 2023 as the International Year of Millets.
World Food India 2023 aims to establish a networking and business platform for government bodies, farmers, entrepreneurs, industry professionals, and other stakeholders to foster partnerships and explore investment prospects in the agri-food sector.
CEO roundtables will also be organized at this three-day festival to promote investment opportunities and enhance the ease of doing business.
Several pavilions have been erected to showcase the prowess of the Indian food processing industry.
The mega event will feature 48 sessions, with a strong emphasis on aspects such as financial empowerment, quality assurance, and innovations in machinery and technology within the food processing sector.
