The much-awaited Mango and Jackfruit Fair kicked off today at the iconic Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bengaluru. Organised by the Horticulture Department, the three-day event was inaugurated by the Principal Secretary and showcases over 50 varieties of organically grown mangoes and jackfruits from across Karnataka.

This year, the fair has attracted attention with the display of the world’s most expensive mango – the Miyazaki variety. Originally from Japan, this mango can fetch up to ₹2 lakh per kg in international markets. At the fair, the Miyazaki mango, grown by a farmer from Kadur taluk in Chikkamagaluru district, is being sold for ₹2,000 per fruit, stunning visitors with its price tag.

Jackfruit lovers aren’t disappointed either. Over 50 varieties including Chandrahalasu, Siddhahalasu, and seedless jackfruits are up for display and sale.

The fair not only celebrates the diversity and richness of Karnataka’s horticulture but also promotes organic farming and local entrepreneurship. As the mango season peaks, visitors are thronging the fair to experience the king of fruits in all its glory.
