The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru city and surrounding areas, warning of continued rainfall and overcast conditions. The city has been witnessing cloudy skies and intermittent showers for the past two to three days, disrupting daily life and bringing much-needed relief from earlier heatwaves.

According to the IMD, the current weather pattern is expected to persist, with light to moderate rainfall likely across Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts. The showers, accompanied by occasional gusty winds and thunder, are part of a larger rain system affecting the entire state.

While several coastal and Malnad districts have been placed under an orange alert due to the potential for heavier rainfall, Bengaluru falls under the yellow alert zone, indicating a moderate level of caution. Authorities have advised residents to stay updated with official forecasts and avoid water-logged areas during peak rainfall hours.

Traffic congestion in the city has worsened during the wet spells, particularly in low-lying zones and at key intersections. Commuters are being urged to plan ahead and allow for delays. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has put civic teams on standby to manage rain-related emergencies, including tree falls and drain overflows.

The IMD has predicted that this rainy spell may continue over the coming days, with periodic assessments depending on evolving weather conditions.
