  • Line may open by September 2025 due to challenges

The Yellow Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru may face yet another delay, with the launch likely to be pushed back by another six months. Titagarh, the company manufacturing the trains for the project, is still in the process of delivering the trainsets.

According to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the first two trainsets are expected to arrive by the end of April, with another two sets scheduled for delivery by September. In addition, Titagarh unveiled a new trainset earlier this week, which is expected to reach Bengaluru on January 15. By the end of April, BMRCL will have three trainsets in hand.

While the plan was to begin operations on the Yellow Line with three trains by June, running at a frequency of every half hour, BMRCL officials have stated that it will be a challenge to meet that timeline. As a result, it is now expected that the line may only become operational by September 2025. The delay highlights the ongoing struggles in the city’s metro expansion, with various factors contributing to the slow progress of the Yellow Line’s completion.
