Bengaluru’s metro commuters, who have been eagerly awaiting the launch of the Yellow Line metro, might have to wait longer. The much-anticipated metro line, connecting Bommasandra to RV Road, was initially scheduled for opening in June, with BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited) stating that operations would start by July. However, due to persistent signaling issues, there’s now growing doubt about whether the line will open as planned.

The Yellow Line stretches for 18.8 km, connecting key areas in South Bengaluru, including Bommasandra, Hebbagodi, Huskur Road, Infosys Foundation (Konappana Agrahara), Electronic City, Beretena Agrahara, Hosa Road, Singasandra, Kudlu Gate, Hongasandra, Bommanahalli, Central Silk Board, BTM Layout, Jayadeva Hospital, Ragigudda, and RV Road. This line is poised to provide a vital link between Electronic City and the heart of the city, significantly easing travel for thousands of commuters.

However, the driverless metro trains that were supposed to operate on this route are facing setbacks due to signaling glitches. Despite BMRCL’s best efforts to address these technical issues, the expected launch in June or July now seems doubtful. The delay is a setback for Bengaluru’s metro expansion and for commuters who had pinned hopes on reduced travel times and improved connectivity.

Commuters and citizens remain hopeful that the issues will be resolved soon, but for now, the opening of the Yellow Line remains uncertain, with further delays possible.
