Five RTO teams were deployed simultaneously in Malleshwaram, RT Nagar, Hebbal, Peenya, and Jalahalli. The checks targeted compliance with road safety norms such as valid permits, fitness certificates, and insurance documentation.
Officials confirmed that two school buses were seized after their drivers were found under the influence of alcohol during duty hours. These disturbing incidents have raised serious concerns over student safety during daily commutes.
In total, 40 school buses were inspected during the multi-location drive. Of these, 20 were found to be violating various transport regulations. Offences included lack of valid insurance, expired permits, and missing fitness certificates. RTO officials have filed cases against all the violators.
The Yeshwanthpur RTO stated that such operations will continue in the coming days and warned school transport operators of strict penalties for non-compliance.
Parents and civic activists have welcomed the action, urging continuous monitoring to ensure the safety of children. The transport department emphasized the need for schools and private operators to maintain higher standards in student transportation.
