Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, a 26 year-old officer of the Indian Navy, was among those tragically killed in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Hailing from Karnal in Haryana, Lt. Narwal was on a short leave to celebrate a new chapter in his life; he had just gotten married on April 16 and was on a honeymoon trip to Kashmir when the attack occurred.

Narwal, who had been serving in Kochi, had joined the Navy only two years ago and was known as a dedicated and promising young officer. After his wedding, he returned to his hometown to celebrate with friends and family at a reception on April 19. Soon after, he and his wife left for their holiday in the picturesque region of Pahalgam, which turned into the site of one of the most tragic terror attacks in recent years.
His untimely death has left his family, friends, and colleagues in deep mourning. Locals from his hometown and the broader defense community have expressed their sorrow and paid tributes to the young officer who had a bright future ahead of him. The incident has also highlighted the brutal and indiscriminate nature of the attack that has shaken the entire nation.
