Police have arrested four individuals, including alleged shooters Gurmail Singh (23) and Dharmaraj Kashyap (19). The accused were found with 65 bullets, ensuring they would not run out during the attack. Six shots were fired on the night of the murder, and authorities have since recovered two firearms – an Austrian-made pistol and a locally manufactured weapon.
The suspects had initially planned to escape on a motorbike, but an accident forced them to switch to an auto-rickshaw. After the killing, they changed clothes to evade detection. A black bag containing another pistol, ammunition, and Aadhar cards linked to a prime suspect, Shivkumar Gautam, was found near the scene.
The shooters reportedly learned to operate the firearms through YouTube tutorials. They practiced in a rented house in Kurla, engaging in "dry drills" with unloaded guns. Gautam, who had prior experience with firearms, is believed to have trained Singh and Kashyap.
A manhunt is underway for key suspect Shubham Lonkar, who remains at large and is believed to be attempting to flee to Nepal. Police have issued a Look Out Circular to prevent his escape.
