The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has increased the price of Nandini milk by Rs 2 per litre. The cost of one litre of milk was Rs 42 thus far. It would hence be Rs 44 per litre. Half litre of milk would earlier cost Rs 22. The cost of half litre of milk would now be Rs 24. A press conference was held in the head office of KMF to provide an update about this development.
Among the positive developments however, a packet of 1 litre of milk would now contain 1050 ml of milk. A packet of half litre of milk would now contain 550 ml of milk. This marks an increase of 50 ml of milk in each packet. The increase in price corresponds with an increase in quantity. “The cost of 50 ml of milk is 2 rupees and 10 paisa. We are also procuring at cost 10 paisa higher. It would therefore be 20 paisa lesser for us. Close to 30 lakh litre of milk from what we have produced is being sent for powdering. This has an effect on our capital,” KMF Chairman Bhima Naik stated.
