In the run up to the 2024 Lok Sabha election, D K Suresh, the Congress candidate for Bangalore Rural, has disclosed that his assets now amount to Rs 593 crore, marking a substantial 75% increase from five years ago when they stood at Rs 338 crore.

This data was revealed in his affidavit submitted to the Election Commission. Suresh’s assets comprise various holdings including agricultural lands, non-agricultural assets, and residential properties primarily located in Ramanagara district and Bengaluru, now valued at Rs 486 crore, up from Rs 305 crore five years prior.

The surge in Suresh’s net worth is primarily attributed to the appreciation of his immovable assets, many of which were inherited. His movable assets have also witnessed a significant upturn, rising from Rs 33 crore in 2019 to Rs 106 crore presently, marking a remarkable 220% increase.

However, alongside the increase in assets, Suresh’s liabilities have also surged considerably, soaring by 188% from Rs 51 crore in 2019 to Rs 150 crore currently.

Notably, Suresh has indicated that Rs 57.27 crore of his liabilities are under dispute, including Rs 55.85 crore pertaining to income tax and Rs 1.42 crore in property tax in Bengaluru.

D K Suresh, the brother of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, is vying for re-election in Bangalore Rural, contesting against BJP’s Dr. C N Manjunath, a renowned cardiologist credited with the transformation of the state-owned Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences & Research.
