The announcement of NEET-UG 2024 results has sparked controversy as several students and parents raise objections over alleged discrepancies. Out of 67 students achieving a perfect score of 720, six from Haryana share sequential seat numbers, hinting at a potential anomaly. Concerns have been raised regarding the feasibility of scores such as 718 and 719, with claims of circulating scorecards on social media.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has responded, citing compensatory measures for candidates facing exam disruptions. However, parent representatives find the explanation unsatisfactory, deeming the occurrence of 718 or 719 scores improbable. Moreover, the unprecedented number of students achieving full marks raises eyebrows, along with discrepancies in corresponding ranks and cut-off marks.

An NTA official attributes the higher scores to the normalization process and the relatively easier physics and chemistry sections. However, concerns persist regarding the lack of clarity on the provision of grace marks and the equitable application of normalization across exam centers.

Experts and parents alike demand transparency regarding the normalization criteria and express dismay over the significantly elevated cut-off marks. This development poses challenges for aspirants aiming for government medical college admissions, with scores below 660 now considered unfavorable compared to previous years.
