The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken a key suspect into its custody over the Rameshwaram Cafe bomb blasts.
Shabbir, the suspect was detained in Ballari district. Presently, he is being interrogated.
The blasts
Two blasts ripped Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Kundalahalli on March 1. They exploded at 1: 07 pm, injuring as many as 10 people. At that time, as many as 50 people were having their lunch.
The area in which the cafe is located abounds with techies. On a daily basis, thousands of techies visit the cafe to have lunch and dinner.
CCTV footage throws more light
A couple of CCTV footage showed the intensity of the blasts, as also the face of the suspect. He was wearing a cap and took BMTC buses to reach the spot. He had also ordered a plate of rava idlis and paid for it in cash, so as to evade online trail.
After the blasts, he visited a mosque and changed his clothes. Later, he travelled to Ballari. CCTV footage corroborating this fact has also been obtained.
Blasts timed
The suspect, roughly, timed the blasts an hour and half after his entry into the cafe. This was to enable him to have a comfortable escape time after the placement of the blasts.
