RR managed to get a comfortable victory against MI
Sanjay Manjarekar had to ask the crowd to behave
How could a team score 277 when it was unprecedented: Sidhu
Hardik Pandya’s homecoming to the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad has not been the most pleasant. Even in the game between MI and Rajasthan Royals (RR) which happened to be the first game of this season in the Wankhede Stadium, Pandya was a recipient of loud disapproval from the crowd. Sanjay Manjarekar who was anchoring during the toss in fact had to ask the crowd to behave. RR managing to get a comfortable victory did not help Pandya’s cause. Former Indian batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu had a different outlook to this scenario. “There is nothing that succeeds like success. If Mumbai Indians had won the last two games, everyone would have been silent. I think he should focus on the team combination, Sidhu said. When you concede 277 runs, everyone screams that your bowling is not good enough. How could a team score 277 when it was unprecedented in the tournament? The other game was a close one. They were defeated, not disgraced,” he said in an interaction on Star Sports.

Sidhu directed Pandya to seek inspiration from the former World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni. “Look at what Dhoni does. When Devon Conway, who was the leading run-getter for him last season, got injured, he got in Rachin Ravindra, who is similar and somewhat better. He needs to find that kind of replacement or he will be exposed,” Sidhu added.
