Discussions around the prospective sentencing that awaits Sandalwood actor Darshan also referred to as the Challenging Star are taking place. He is currently stationed in the Parappana Agrahara prison in judicial custody over suspicion of a role in the murder of Renukaswamy. He is reported to have declined the food being offered in the prison. There is however widespread speculation on social media about the fate of producers who have invested a lot of money in future projects starring Darshan. 

The shooting of ‘Devil’ was underway in Mysuru when Darshan was arrested. This has however now been halted due to the developments in the case. Vinay Gowda who had emerged as one of the runner-ups in the tenth season of Bigg Boss Kannada had a role in the film which was under production. He had the responsibility of playing the lead antagonist in the film.

Vinay had even planned his gym sessions in accordance with his plans to prepare for the role. “I have worked with Milana Prakash sir’s production before. I have also worked in serials. He has seen my acting. He called me up. He talked to me about the role. It is a well written negative character against a prominent actor. I realised he was talking about ‘Devil’,” Vinay said with a television channel.
