Sandalwood actor Darshan also referred to as the Challenging Star is currently lodged at the Parappana Agrahara prison after the police was granted judicial custody of suspects in relation to the murder of Renukaswamy. He has been provided the tag of Prisoner Number 6106 during his stay. One of Darshan’s fans was reported to have used the same number for his bike’s number plate. This fan was seen shedding tears. Fans have also been using Kaidhi (Prisoner) 6106 as a sticker on their mobile phones. 

‘Khaidi 6106’ has been trending on social media platforms. These stickers were also observed behind autos. Another observable trend was that the sticker was accompanied by an animated picture of 2 hands tied by handcuffs. This has become a method through which the fans are paying tribute to Darshan in his absence.

This would however set a bad precedence in terms of normalising and glamourising violent crimes. In the past, Darshan has made controversial remarks that were received with applause by his fans. Such tendencies should however always be put under check and scrutiny. Many of Darshan’s fans have been justifying his conduct in this case. This does showcase them in a positive light.
