Border Roads Organisation (BRO) of India begins construction work
Road to be constructed at height of 19,400 feet at Line of Actual Control (LAC)
Likaru-Mig La-Fukche road to be higher than the Umling La road
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) of India begins construction work on world’s highest motorable road in east Ladakh.
This road is being constructed at a height of 19,400 feet near Line of Actual Control (LAC) in east Ladakh. This road is part of a massive infrastructure development work by India.
This road once constructed, becomes the highest motorable road pass by breaking its own earlier record.
The construction work began on the occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day at Demchok area in Ladakh. This road infrastructure holds much significance for the security of the country in the wake of the ongoing border disputes with China.
Likaru-Mig La-Fukche is the road close to Hanle that will come up in east Ladakh and it will be 64-kilometre long and its highest point at 19,400 feet will make this road the highest motorable road in the world.
Umling La road in Ladakh at a height of 19,024 feet is currently the highest motorable road in the world. After completion of the construction of Likaru-Mig La-Fukche road, this road will be higher than Umling La road. Likaru-Mig La-Fukche road that will connect Likaru with Fukche is three kilometres from the LAC in east Ladakh.
It has to be noted that the construction of this road has begun at a time when India and China are engaged in a military standoff along the LAC for a few years now.
