The release of data pertaining to the sale and purchase of electoral bonds has added a new dimension to the case pertaining to the alleged liquor policy scam under which several leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) including the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal have been arrested. Aurobindo Pharma Director Sarath Chandra Reddy, whom the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has presented as the approver in the case is reported to have donated Rs 60 crore to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “We want to raise three key questions in the case – What is the relationship between Reddy and BJP? Who met him from the party and what was their conversation? And why were people, the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and the ED not informed about receiving funds from Reddy,” Minister of Health of Delhi Saurabh Bharadwaj said in a press conference.

Sarath had obtained liquor stores in some zones across Delhi under the policy. “To make Reddy an approver in the case, he was kept in jail for six months after which he changed his statement. They not only made him approver under pressure but also took crores from him,” Vice Chairperson of the Dialogue & Development Commission of Delhi Jasmine Shah stated.
