On Thursday, a lively celebration unfolded, featuring a captivating showcase of the state’s cultural heritage, marking the commencement of Alva’s Virasat-2023.
Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, addressed the inauguration, underscored the importance of fostering a patriotic mindset. He commended national celebrations like Alva’s Virasat for their capacity to instill such values in the younger generation. Gehlot lauded the initiatives to cultivate a fresh vision for the country in youth through Virasat-organized events.
Dr M. Mohan Alva, President of Alvas educational institution, welcomed the gathering, stating the institution’s diverse experience over the past 28 years. Emphasizing the increasing potential of the youth in the nation, he underscored the importance of providing them with proper guidance.
Virasat represents a path of enlightenment, transcending mere entertainment, enriching students with culture and values. Alva’s endeavours have moulded students into virtuous individuals, transforming such opportunities into blessings for them, Gehlot remarked.
Dr. Mohan Alva conveyed that this year’s Virasat programme is a tribute to the late Captain MV Pranjal, an Indian Army officer martyred in Jammu and Kashmir. Recognizing his dedicated service to the nation, Dr. Alva recalled Captain Pranjal’s frequent attendance at previous Virasat events.
The audience was captivated by traditional performances such as Yakshagana, Kola, and Nandi Dhwaja, highlighting the opulence of our heritage. The event featured elaborate costumes and diverse cultural expressions through artistic performances.
The Virasat-2023 cultural event commenced on Friday evening at 5:45 PM, marking the beginning of the second day’s cultural extravaganza. The festival commenced with the lighting of lamps, signifying the onset of an eventful celebration.
