Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu, renowned for his stints with both Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has expressed his desire to see Rohit Sharma don the iconic yellow jersey of CSK in the near future.

Rayudu, endorsing Rohit’s capabilities, emphasized the potential for the Indian skipper to extend his IPL career by several years and even take on leadership roles. Speaking on a private channel, Rayudu stated, “Rohit Sharma can play IPL for the next 5-6 years. If he wants to captain, the whole world is open for him.”

Expressing his specific wish for Rohit’s association with CSK, Rayudu remarked, “I want Rohit Sharma to play for CSK in 2025, if MS Dhoni retires then Rohit can lead as well.”

Rohit Sharma, who led MI to an impressive five IPL titles during his decade-long tenure, recently saw his captaincy handed over to Hardik Pandya ahead of IPL 2024. 

Meanwhile, Dhoni has been gearing up for the upcoming season, despite lingering doubts about his availability following surgery. 

Dhoni’s future in the IPL remains uncertain, as he has hinted at a desire for a memorable farewell in the yellow jersey, though specifics remain undisclosed.
