Numerous Apple Watch users are grappling with an unusual glitch termed the ‘Ghost touch’ issue. Despite its spooky moniker, the problem involves the device registering false touches, leading to inadvertent actions such as menu navigation and unintended passcode entries.

Apple first acknowledged this concern in a memo circulated to Authorised Service Providers back in February. Initially observed predominantly in the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models, the issue prompted Apple to advise against unit replacements, instead urging users to await a forthcoming software update intended to rectify the problem. However, reports now indicate that the problem has extended to other models, including the Apple Watch Series 7, Apple Watch Series 8, and the original Apple Watch Ultra.

Although the precise cause remains elusive, some users have humorously linked the issue to paranormal activity, thus coining the term “ghost touch.” The severity of the problem is such that it renders the affected Apple Watches virtually unusable. One Reddit user recounted their ordeal, describing constant ghost touches and screen glitches culminating in being locked out of the device due to erratic number inputs.
