Rottweilers, pitbulls can be extremely unruly

Such aggressive breeds don't socialise and become unruly

Even though they can be trained, they can't be trusted

To check the growth of incidents in which ferocious dogs attack human beings, the government has banned as many as 23 breeds of such dogs.

Dr Yathiraj, veterinarian, who spoke exclusively to NewsFirst Prime, said, “They have different instincts. They can be aggressive. People take into consideration what has happened in other countries where they have been banned.”

Will banning solve the issue?

To this, he said, “It is very difficult to say if it is right or wrong. There are certain breeds that have an aggressive character. They don’t socialize and become unruly,” he noted.

Is there any way to tame and train them?

“People do train them. But it is not easy. They become unruly. Only masters can handle them. Others can’t,” he stressed.

Though banning seems to be a good idea, it also runs the risk of making them extinct.

“Once they are banned, they can become extinct. Instead it can be restricted to farms. They can be used as guard and hunting dogs. If they mix with the human population, they can unleash brutality,” he underlined.

However, he supported the ban on these dogs as the government can’t be a mute spectator to their brutality.

“But when it is affecting society, the government has to step in. But they should also give us guidelines.”
