The spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have set a new record in the first innings of the first test between India and England that was held in Hyderabad. They picked up 4 of the 5 wickets of the top order of England. This played a crucial role in restricting England to 245 when they maintained their positive ‘Bazball’ approach to batting. 

Both Ashwin and Jadeja picked up 3 wickets each. This took their cumulative wickets as a pair to 504. This feat was achieved in 50 tests. This has ensured that they are currently the most successful bowling pair in India. They went past the Anil Kumble-Harbhajan Singh pair who had picked up 501 wickets in 54 matches. 

Comparisons between the two pairs have for long been a rather contested debate in the context of Indian cricket.
