In a groundbreaking move, Bangalore University has fully digitized the BCA practical allotment process — a first in the university's history and among all universities in Karnataka. The initiative introduces geotagged photographs, marking a significant step toward greater academic transparency.

The pioneering software was developed by Dr. Muralidhar B.L., Senior Professor of the Computer Science Department, in collaboration with Chitti Babu, an alumnus of the university. The digitization is expected to streamline practical allotments for over 15,500 BCA students across 128 affiliated colleges spanning Bangalore Urban and Rural districts, including areas like Dabaspet, Kanakapura, Nelamangala, and HSR Layout.
Until now, the university conducted BCA practical exams up to nine times a year, often facing logistical challenges, including faculty shortages and coordination issues. The new system resolves these hurdles by automating the entire allotment process, reducing manual intervention and ensuring timely execution.
In addition to Dr. Muralidhar and Chitti Babu, guest faculty members Pavithra and Karan, along with research scholars Maya and Sarala, contributed to the software's development.
Dr. Muralidhar has formally proposed to the Vice-Chancellor that the software be adopted across all affiliated colleges, citing its potential to enhance efficiency and transparency in academic administration.
This achievement cements Bangalore University’s reputation as a forward-thinking institution embracing digital innovation to improve higher education outcomes.
