Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Raichur Rural from the Indian National Congress (INC) Basanagouda Daddal who is one of the accused in the alleged Valmiki Development Corporation scam being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was allegedly absconding for a period of 2 days. He was however present for a Vidhana Sabha session.

Daddal was believed to have been outside the radar of investigative agencies due to the fear of an arrest by the ED. Daddal is reported to have held a discussion with Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah regarding the case. Daddal also met speaker U.T Khader.

This is an important development in the case pertaining to the alleged misappropriation of funds by the Valmiki Development Corporation. Daddal also addressed reporters. “I visited my native place for 2 days. I was never absconding. I have come here to attend the session. I haven’t received any notice from the ED. I will aid all investigative efforts,” he said. There are speculations that Dadal attempted to avoid an interaction with the media. He is believed to have complained about mental harassment to other legislators.

The ED had earlier conducted raids on the premises of Daddal and P.A Pampanna Rathod who is supposedly close to him.
