This happened during the Mahasivarathiri festivities at the Pazhapoosaian temple near Sivagiri village. 

In what came as a spirited auction, held amidst the sanctity of the private temple located 35 km from the village, devotees eagerly bid for the prized lemon and other offerings presented to Lord Shiva.

This year, the auction witnessed a remarkable display of devotion, with 15 devotees participating fervently. The bidding fervor reached its pinnacle when the humble lemon fetched an astonishing Rs 35,000. Beyond its tangible value, the lemon embodies a profound belief ingrained in the hearts of the faithful: that the highest bidder will receive not only the fruit itself but also the blessings of wealth and health bestowed by Lord Shiva.
