Bengaluru: 2 incidents of trees falling on vehicles reported within 1 day

    An incident occurred on Railway Parallel Road

    The bike rider lost consciousness

    2 people inside the car sustained minor injuries

Bengaluru witnessed a spell of rain on the evening of May 2nd. As a result a huge tree has fallen over a bike and a car. The incident occurred on the Railway Parallel Road in Kodigehalli. The bike rider lost consciousness as a consequence. The car was also damaged and 2 people inside the car sustained minor injuries. The driver of the bike has been admitted to a private hospital in Kodigehalli. 

4.3 millimetres of rain was recorded in Bengaluru. In the Vidyapeetha region of Bengaluru 20 millimetres of rain was recorded. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has provided data pertaining to the regions that recorded the maximum amount of rainfall on May 2nd. The Kolar district, Ramanagar district and the Herindyapanahalli region of Kanakapura feature in the second, third and fourth position in the list. They received 18mm, 17mm and 16.5 mm of rain respectively.

Within a span of one day, 2 incidents of trees falling on vehicles have been reported. A brand new Honda Elevate SUV was damaged upon being struck by a tree. Luckily none was inside the car when the incident unfolded. Negligence by the Forest Department is suspected to be the cause for the incident.
