Bengaluru: 600 prospective apartment buyers in a spot of bother following BBMP notice

Apartment buyers are faced with unique challenges in their search for accommodation in Bengaluru. Approximately 600 prospective apartment buyers are in a spot of bother. They have lost their flats on account of fraud by builders.

 A notice for the demolition of 32 flats in the Sai Serenity extension in the Basavanapura area of the K.R Puram region of Bengaluru has been  furnished. The 32 apartments have been allegedly built without a construction plan. It is also being alleged that they did not have the requisite permission from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). 

600 flats were purchased across these 32 apartments. BBMP is making preparations for the demolition of 2 of the apartments. 60 families would have resided in these 2 apartments. The builder had sold the apartments to buyers from outside Karnataka. They might be staring at a precarious situation even without having committed any offence. 

The BBMP is spreading awareness among people against buying unauthorised apartments. People have been advised against buying apartments in the Sai Serenity extension. Boards indicating this information have been laid out across the region. The board recommends people to visit a BBMP office before committing to the deal.
