Water mafia is having the last laugh!

You would all have heard about owners locking up their cupboards having jewellery and other valuables. But in Bengaluru, people are locking up water drums! 

As strange as it sounds, Bengaluru is facing acute water shortage, all thanks to insufficient rains. This being the case, owners, after filling up their tanks, are safeguarding it to the best possible extent. 

Summer is yet to set in, but the cries for water have hit the roof! With the temperature soaring, people are running from pillar to post to quench their thirst and also water for other purposes. 

If you talk to people who are resorting to locks, they say that they are not sure of protecting their water, a valuable resource; hence this move. 

Even as taps run dry, people are hoping against hope that they get more water. On the other hand, using this adversity as an opportunity, the water mafia has increased its water rates exorbitantly, only making lives worse for the people. 

Water scarcity for other purposes as well! 

It’s not just drinking water that is available at a premium! Unable to get water for other purposes, people are forced to take bath once in a week and washing their clothes once in a month! 

It’s not that they have not approached the relevant authorities, but their complaints have only fallen on deaf ears!
