Close on the heels of a woman Janani passing away due to alleged medical negligence in Bengaluru, another woman Elizabeth has passed away. This time it is Rainbow Children’s Hospital that has come under the scanner.

The incident in detail

Elizabeth was admitted to the hospital on May 10. Early next morning at around 3, she delivered a baby girl. The doctors declared that both the mother and child were happy, however at 7:30 they raised an alarm saying she was facing fluctuations in her health. They asked the family to shift to a different hospital as they didn’t have ventilator.

She was shifted to the Baptist Hospital where she passed away. The family alleges medical negligence on the part of doctors. They allege that she suffered a drop in her platelet count (32,000). It’s alleged that they gave her spinal anesthesia instead of general anesthesia. Also, it is alleged that they did not mention the administration of anesthesia in the discharge summary.

The family wonders as to why they got Elizabeth admitted when the hospital did not have ventilator facility.

On its part, the hospital maintains that there was no lapse on its part.
