BDA to commence construction of new flyover lanes

Two dedicated lanes stretching from KR Puram to Hebbal

Aim to segregate airport-bound traffic and alleviate congestion

The forthcoming months will witness a significant alteration in traffic movement around Hebbal Junction, as the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will commence construction of new flyover lanes.

The BDA’s plan entails the establishment of two dedicated lanes stretching from KR Puram to Hebbal, aimed at segregating airport-bound traffic and alleviating congestion at the Hebbal intersection.

To execute this plan, a portion of the existing loop connecting KR Puram to Hebbal will undergo dismantling, with two spans set to be removed. Consequently, the flyover will undergo partial sectioning to accommodate the construction work, resulting in a reduction of road width and potential disruptions to traffic flow. Notably, outbound traffic and vehicles traveling from the city towards KR Puram via the Outer Ring Road will remain unaffected by these alterations.

In anticipation of the ensuing traffic adjustments, an advisory has been issued by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic, Northeast), urging commuters to explore alternative routes for accessing the city during this period.

It is expected that these measures will facilitate smoother execution of the construction project while minimizing inconvenience to commuters navigating through the Hebbal area.

As such, a temporary disruption in traffic patterns is anticipated as the BDA progresses with its efforts to enhance the efficiency and functionality of the road infrastructure in Bengaluru.
