Bengaluru: Beggar creates panic as he leaves empty boxes outside ATM, bomb squad rushes

Perhaps, a beggar’s unknown act brought an entire area to a standstill.  At 10 AM On 12th February, 3 boxes were found near the Kotak Mahindra Bank Automated Teller Machine (ATM) near the Minerva Circle. These were empty boxes which are used to store cash that are later fed to the ATM. It is generally kept inside the ATM. 

A beggar is believed to have kept the boxes in this spot and fled from the region. This raised suspicion among people who came to withdraw cash. They contacted the local police to inform them about the boxes. It was speculated that either the box was kept after having stolen cash from the ATM. The possibility of other dangers that come with unidentified boxes was  not ruled out either. The police did not take the situation lightly. The bomb squad was also called to the spot. 

It was later ascertained that the boxes did not belong to this particular ATM. The Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) visuals confirmed the involvement of the beggar. How he procured these boxes still remains unclear. The police are on the lookout for him.  The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Kalasipalya Police Station.
