Protest will be held near the Mahatma Gandhi statue outside the Vidhana Soudha

Protests will begin at 11 AM

Statements of D.K Suresh and H.C Balakrishna have been targetted

The Karnataka State Government has planned to protest against the Central Government outside the Jantar Mantar in Delhi over alleged discrimination to Karnataka in terms of tax distribution. Despite having received an invitation from CM Siddaramaiah to partake in the protests, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have planned a counter-protest at the same time near the Mahatma Gandhi statue located outside the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru. These protests will begin at 11 AM. It will be led by the BJP Karnataka State President B.Y Vijayendra and the leader of the opposition in the Vidhana Soudha R.Ashok. All legislators of the BJP and the members of the Vidhana Parishad will partake in the protests.

The protests are aimed to highlight the alleged misgovernance by the state government. The BJP has claimed that the sole focus of the Indian National Congress (INC) after having come to power has been the implementation of the five guarantee schemes. BJP states that this has resulted in development and the issues of farmers taking a back seat. Assistance in light of the drought has also been unsatisfactory according to the BJP. They have levelled an allegation that the Congress is threatening the voters to retract the guarantees if they are not elected in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Statements of D.K Suresh and H.C Balakrishna have been painted as an effort to resort to divisive, anti-national politics with the tax distribution serving to be an excuse.
