Close on the heels of the Rameshwaram cafe blasts, the Karnataka government has received a bomb threat email, targeting Bengaluru with an explosion set for the upcoming Saturday. The email has been addressed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, the Home Minister, and the Bengaluru Police Commissioner. It was purportedly sent by a person named Shahid Khan.

The threat specified that the explosion would occur at 2:48 pm local time, potentially affecting crowded areas such as restaurants, temples, buses, and trains. Moreover, the sender warned of potential bomb placements during public events.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, the email demanded a ransom of 2.5 million dollars (approximately Rs 20 crore) to avert the planned explosion.

Authorities have taken serious note of the issue and are investigating it thoroughly. 

The blasts

Last Friday, two bombs ripped Rameshwaram cafe at Kundalahalli in Bengaluru. They went off at an interval of 10 seconds, injuring as many as 10 people. 

Presently, the NIA is probing the issue. Sleuths have visited the spot and have collected all possible evidence.
