Due to the shortage of rainfall in 2023, Karnataka has been facing a drought situation. This has affected agriculture as well as domestic activities. In light of these troubles, Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah has called for an important meeting.

The meeting will take place at the Chief Minister’s bungalow Krishna at 12 PM on 18th March. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Chief Secretary of Karnataka Rajneesh Goel, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath and the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) Chairman Tushar Girinath will also participate in the meeting. Problems pertaining to Bengaluru and surrounding districts will be discussed.

Leader of Opposition from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) R Ashoke lashed out at the Siddaramaiah government over the crisis. “Despite being aware of an eminent drought-like situation, no precautionary measures were taken by the government. The irresponsible government did not contemplate alternative possibilities. The meeting called on Monday is also a mere formality,” R Ashok mentioned.
