The District Election Officer and Chief Commissioner, Tushar Girinath, has issued a directive to micro observers to maintain strict vigilance in polling stations across the city in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a training program for micro observers held at Puttanna Chetty Town Hall on Saturday, Girinath emphasized the critical role of micro observers in monitoring assigned polling booths on polling day.

He highlighted the establishment of 305 critical and vulnerable polling stations spread across 28 assembly constituencies, including those within the city’s three Lok Sabha constituencies, Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha constituency, and Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituency. Girinath noted the deployment of 365 micro observers for this purpose.

Girinath stressed the importance of proper monitoring of activities around polling booths and suggested that detailed reports be provided to general voters regarding the proceedings at each booth post-polling.

In addition to deploying micro observers at critical polling stations, Girinath mentioned the implementation of video and webcasting measures.

Makarand Pandurang, General Observer of Bangalore South, echoed Girinath’s sentiments, emphasizing the crucial role micro observers will play on polling day. Pandurang underscored the need for continuous monitoring of polling booth activities from the morning mock polls to the conclusion of the voting process in the evening.
